The Last Ride Together
“The Last Ride Together” is a sort of long poem by Robert Browning. It is one of my favourite poems of all time, and one that I read to my mother more than once while she was in the hospital. Because it is ten verses long, I will not type out the whole thing here. But if you are ever in the mood for a nice poem, check Men and Women out at your local library.
X. And yet — she has not spoke so long!
What if Heaven be, that, fair and strong
At life’s best, with our eyes upturned
Whither life’s flower is first discerned,
We, fixed so, ever should so abide?
What if we still ride on, we two,
With life for ever old yet new,
Changed not in kind but in degree,
The instant made eternity, —
And Heaven just prove that I and she
Ride, ride together, for ever ride?

@MlleRobillard - @five11nation - Thank you. That one has been a favourite for me since I was just a little Vanessa! Sometimes I just like to see/hear pretty words.
